The Lodge, Verbier
The Lodge, Richard Branson’s luxurious mountain hideaway, is the perfect base for an exhilarating ski holiday or summer break in the Swiss Alps. Nestled in the forest a five-minute walk from the centre of Verbier, and only 250 metres from the main Medran lift station, it’s as well-connected as it is cosy.
With seven beautiful bedrooms and two stunning master suites, The Lodge sleeps up to 18 adults, and every room boasts views out over the valley below. There’s also a bunk room that sleeps six kids. Guests can choose between a king-size double or twin beds, making The Lodge a flexible option for families and groups of friends. Renowned as one of Europe’s hottest ski spots, Verbier is in the huge four valleys area which offers skiers over 400km of pistes, all on a single lift pass. And, thanks to an artificial snow-making system, the area is skiable right up until the end of April. Verbier itself has 195km of marked pistes and 34 lifts, with the main station just 250m from The Lodge. On the home straight in the afternoon, guests can ski directly to the chalet to warm up and indulge in a hard-earned afternoon tea. For the ultimate in relaxation, The Lodge has an on-site spa, along with an indoor pool and hot tub, a steam room and – for those with extra energy – a fully equipped gym. As well as world-class skiing, Verbier offers a wide range of activities throughout the seasons. In winter, try your hand at sledging, snow shoeing or paragliding, then, come summer, hike, bike, play golf or take to the mountain air with a spot of outdoor yoga. For little ones, The Lodge can organise activity programmes, along with books, games, toys, DVDs and a games console. Kids’ meals can be arranged, and babysitters are available if you fancy an evening out.
One of the highlights of any stay at The Lodge is undoubtedly the food. Chefs are on hand to prepare everything from formal four-course gourmet meals to healthy snacks.
