Arranging a South African helicopter transfer
In April 2022, a retail executive holidaying in South Africa asked us to arrange a helicopter transfer from their resort to Durban Airport, where they were boarding a commercial flight, and back again when they returned the next day.
The original trip to Morocco had been delayed until June 2022 due to Covid-19 restrictions, so in the interim the client wanted to arrange a last-minute alternative to Nice. But with several date changes and route alterations due to Covid-19, we had to pull out all the stops to fulfil the complex request.
Our Solution
Route: Alpine Heath Resort > Durban
Aircraft: Bell 206 B-2 JetRanger
We found four helicopters with availability to transfer the client from the resort’s helipad to the airport and back again the following day. They chose to proceed with the most cost-effective option, a Bell 206 B-2 JetRanger, so we confirmed all the finer details and arranged for refreshments to be stocked on board.
The Finer Details
Rapid Response: We found several possible solutions for this request within an hour of the client contacting us.
Unrivalled Flexibility: The client’s inbound commercial flight was rescheduled to arrive later than expected. Helicopters aren’t allowed to travel through the Drakensberg Mountains after sunset, so we accommodated a last-minute cancellation of the return transfer.
